Productivity - what it means for each of us

Productivity

I've been thinking about productivity a lot lately; what it means for me and how I measure myself. We are all so different in how and what we place value upon in all areas of our busy and multi-faceted lives.

Through July and early August I planned a break from creating art and to focus instead on spending time with my big sis who was staying with us and in any spare moments to revamp my website and update products (prints, cards etc) - making sure they feature on the site with workable links etc. Also hoped to review my pensions, maybe sketch out a few ongoing ideas, write some email updates on KIT here and do lots of intentional social media posts....and fit in the day job too of course!

It strikes me that adding time with my sister to a mental list should maybe trigger an alarm bell or three? What do you think? Genuinely would love to hear how you manage to separate spending time with people from the other stuff that needs to be done?!

Being a list maker and planner means I have a 'creative' list, an 'admin' list and a 'home-life' list written or whirling around my head at all times and of course they merge at times. Happily, my current 'fails' are:

  • Finalising the new page for prints/ cards on the website (work in progress!)
  • The pensions review...well that was a tad optimistic for summer evenings!
  • No sketches to date but next on the list
  • Very little on social media and...
  • This is my first email update in far too long...

My productivity 'successes' hinge around time with my sister and getting a good overhaul on the website almost done - is it plenty for 6 weeks or so?

I hope so; we can never get time back with our favourite people and as a family we had some great days out, a fab long weekend away in Devon and much chat and laughter together before she headed back home to the Cyprus heat.

Hoping you have had a productive summer so far in all the ways you have planned and hoped for whether you list them and reflect on them or not!

Warmest Regards
Deb

Joy-filled Jottings! September.... It turned out to be a month of many things – the best of which were relaxation, new experience and new connection. As our holiday ran into the first week of September and was our first visit to Crete I have to mention it ….we stayed at the most relaxing hotel ever. The staff were great, the food delicious and the surroundings calm and classy. Nothing was rushed and no tensions about seating or sunbeds. We explored parts of this large island too. The gorges...

A sneak preview! Just a very short one here with an update on more ongoing works that are beginning to form a collection I am calling 'Tree Lore' which combines interests in plants, trees and the traditions, myths and legends surrounding them. I have shared my Holly work previously on social media and have been building up more works to shape a collection that covers the tree zodiac of the Ogham calendar plus more trees (28 in total) and the myths and traditions that surround them. Iris variety Joyce

Happy Weekend! It will surely be a cold one here in the UK but some splodges of colour are coming through here and there. Snowdrops abound and the occasional early gem of a flower appearing. This little Iris is variety Joyce – a favourite of my late Mum Joyce too. A single flower is out; it is right in front of a solar light so perhaps just a bit warmer than the other bulbs that are not yet in bud. It got me thinking about over-wintering and how we also tend to slow down in the colder months....
